Postdoctoral, doctoral and Master student positions
Candidates with a strong interest in our research are welcome to submit their applications. Please contact the corresponding research group to inquire about postdoctoral, doctoral and Master student positions.
We would like to emphasize that all prospective PhD students have to enroll in one of the programs of the Zurich Life Science Graduate School. You find more information on the application procedure and future deadlines on its webpage.
Open postdoctoral position in skin morphogenesis
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to join the laboratory of Prof. Lukas Sommer. The group is part of the interdisciplinary research consortium SKINTEGRITY.CH (https://www.skintegrity.ch) and focuses on neural crest stem cell biology in development, tissue repair, and tumorigenesis.
This project builds on the recent discovery that de-differentiated peripheral glia drive wound healing in adult skin (Cell Stem Cell, 2026 - DOI:10.1016/j.stem.2025.12.015). The aim is to uncover their role in skin development, combining single-cell, spatial, and functional approaches.
Funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the project explores how glial cells shape the skin microenvironment and coordinate interactions across diverse cell types. By studying the transition from scarless to scarring repair, Prof. Sommer and his team seek to identify mechanisms that could improve regeneration in adult skin.
